From My Knees (Acoustic)

by Hamish Jeffcott

This song was written for those who struggle to speak out when they are in pain. It was originally written for mental health awareness week and I hope that it can help people through any mental health struggles they may have.

A singer who suffered a brain injury as a teenager is set to release new music.

Hamish Jeffcott, 27, is a guitarist and singer from Weymouth who often tours the pubs and bars around his home town as well as in Dorchester.

His EP Time to Grow, explores the themes of personal growth and relationship growth.

Hamish often writes about mental health and battles he has faced in his personal life in his music.

At age 16, Hamish suffered a severe brain injury during a rugby game which left him struggling with memory loss and staying awake.

Hamish said: "I was 16 when it happened, I was in the hospital and they checked me over for spinal injuries but they didn't take a look at my brain and I was released the same day without even realising.

"Three years later I was still struggling to stay awake and struggling to remember things.

"I suffered a lot from depression and anxiety after that.

"All of these things impact my writing."

Also a writer, Hamish has also written a short story about his experiences with his brain injury.

Hamish said he is excited to share his new music with the local crowds of Dorset as the summer season fast approaches.

He said: "I am already bringing some of the new music to gigs in Dorchester and Weymouth.

"Summer time in Weymout is absolutely hectic, which is fantastic for me, it means I have a lot of gigs.

"I absolutely love it, playing any of my own songs and spreading my own word is fantastic.

"Of course, I also enjoy the covers and that is good for the crowd who can sing along.

"I feel very grateful."

Time To Grow will be available on all streaming platforms on May 23.

Hamish said: "It is always nice to release more music, it is a buzz to see it on spotify and other streaming sites.

"I have been working on an album for a long time, but I had written a few songs and decided to put together an EP.

"I hope everyone enjoys it."

Hamish has released a number of EPs and singles before Time to Grow.
